Autel Tablet Not Charging? How to Check the Cable and Charger

If your Autel diagnostic tablet starts charging when you switch cables, check what you changed before replacing the charger or tablet. With the same outlet and power adapter, a rising battery percentage points first to the original cable or its connection. If you also changed the adapter, either accessory could explain the difference.

Can I keep using the replacement cable or charger?

Use the charging equipment specified for your exact tablet model. If the replacement cable is an Autel-approved part for that model and charging stays stable, you can continue using it. If it is an unidentified cable or a third-party adapter, check the manual before relying on it. A charging icon shows that the tablet detects power. It cannot tell you whether the accessory meets the manufacturer's requirements.

Why the exact MaxiSys model matters

For example, the MaxiSys MS909S2 manual describes a USB-C charging option using the supplied cable and a power adapter that supports USB Power Delivery (PD). Its specified fast-charging profile is 15 V at 3 A, or 45 W. That figure applies to this model and charging method. A charger advertised as “45 W” may offer a different set of output profiles. See Power Sources in the MS909S2 manual.

How to read the label on an Autel tablet charger

Look for Output on the adapter label. The Input line describes the electricity supplied by the wall outlet. Use the output information, the accessory part number and the tablet manual together when checking a replacement.

  • For a round DC plug, verify the specified output voltage, current capacity, plug dimensions and polarity. Two plugs can look alike while having different electrical connections.
  • For USB-C, check that the tablet supports charging through that port. If its manual specifies USB PD, verify that the adapter offers the required voltage and current together and that the cable is rated for that use.
  • If the label has a CE mark, you still need the model and output details to check compatibility. The mark alone cannot establish that an adapter is suitable for a particular Autel tablet.

Is it a charging problem or a battery problem?

With intact, approved equipment, note the battery percentage, connect the tablet and leave it idle for a short period. Check whether the percentage rises. Then unplug it and observe what happens during ordinary use.

  • It charges consistently after changing only the cable. Set the suspect cable aside. If charging cuts in and out again, record which cable and adapter were connected.
  • The percentage rises, but the tablet shuts down soon after unplugging. Tell support how quickly this happens and what the tablet was doing. That observation helps distinguish a battery that loses charge from a tablet that never charged.
  • It charges only when the plug is held at an angle. Stop using that connection and have the plug and port checked. Forcing the connector can cause more damage.

If you notice swelling, a burning smell, exposed wiring or unusual heat, stop charging and contact support before testing another accessory.

What should I check the next time I charge it?

Use the same outlet and adapter with a cable approved for your tablet. Note the battery percentage before charging, check it again after the tablet has been idle for a while, and see how long the charge lasts once unplugged. If the percentage rises steadily and the tablet runs as usual afterward, the original cable or its connection is the most likely explanation.
